Baden Powell's Last Message
Dear Scouts:
If you've ever seen the play "Peter Pan" will remember how the pirate chief was always making his dying speech because he was afraid that possibly when the time came when there was dying, not have time to make it known. That happens to me, and even though I'm not dying right now, this must happen one of these days, and I wish to say a word of farewell.
Remember: this is the last you will hear from me, so meditate.
I had a very happy life and wish you all ye lives very happy. " I have for me that God has placed us in this jolly world to be happy and enjoy life. But happiness comes not from wealth or success in the race simply not giving himself a pleasure. One step towards happiness is to be a healthy and strong as a child, to be useful and thus able to enjoy life when you're a man.
The Nature study will show you how God has filled with beautiful things and wonderful world that you can enjoy. Be satisfied with what you have and take it the best game you can. Look on the bright side of things and not bad.
But the real way to get happiness is to make others happy. Try to leave this world in better condition than you found. Thus, when it's time you die, you can do it happily because, at least, do not waste time and did as I was able to do good. "Be Prepared" in this way, to enjoy a happy life and die happy, lay hold to your Scout Promise always, even when you are no longer boys. May God help you to do so. Your friend
